The owner of Moderna in Atlanta handed me this drink and said, “this is the drink special tonight.” Usually, that means to take a photo of it and then post it to Facebook with the title of the drink and something catchy.
Most times, the drink is already visually appealing. This drink…not so much. Naturally, a weird yellow color,
OK-looking, plain, VERY PLAIN glass, and no garnish.
I told him that we might want to spruce it up a bit otherwise, we’re looking at a pretty boring drink. He turns to me and says,
"You’re a photographer, right?"
"Make it happen."
Over 100 shots later with my only idea being to add a cucumber & napkin, I was about ready to give up. Uninspired, I thought that taking a small sip of it might help by tasting what’s in it. So, after a taste of this amazing earthy & alcoholic drink, I walked outside and set it down on a table next to a used wine bottle with a flower in it from the night before. I sat there and thought:
"What am I going to do?"
I looked down at the glass, only to see that the picture was staring me right in the face. A few snaps later, and this is the final image. You can see a part of it where the “drink line” is lower in the glass and left a grainy film.
Sometimes, a little break is just what you need.
